Position Summary

The Hospitality Training Manager is the key management leader of and Hospitality Development program and Hospitality Skill for Young Entrepreneurship. The Hospitality Training Manager is responsible for overseeing the operation of training and schedule of using multi-purpose space SPOONS Café Restaurant in collaboration with Restaurant Supervisor and the Head Chef, liaising weekly with the Deputy and Executive Director. The position reports directly to Deputy Director.

Duties

  • At SPOONS Café Restaurant works with Director and Deputy Director to fulfill SPOONS Café Restaurant and SPOONS Cambodia Organization Mission.
  • Along with the Restaurant Supervisor and the Head Chef, supervise collaboration with on training and standards in both the kitchen, café bar area, café floor area and surrounding spaces.
  • Staff Hiring & Profession Development; & Coaching
  • Select, train, evaluate, lead, motivate, coach, and discipline all employees, working alongside the Restaurant supervisor and Head Chef.
  • Develop, implement and train – both staff and practicum students - on standard operating procedures for both service and kitchen teams in collaboration with the Restaurant Manager and the Head Chef.
  • Hospitality Development Program: Work closely with Deputy Director to develop annual instructional program, Plan, develop, and utilize a variety of instructional materials and aids appropriate to the intellectual and instructional level of pupils, inspection and evaluation program.
  • Oversee the Training program, including scheduling, coordination of education activities, developing and teaching courses on hospitality (housekeeping, food & beverage service, and cooking) and general skills, and evaluating student performance.
  • Design and teach professional development courses for SPOONS Cambodia students and EGBOK alumni.
  • Line manager for the Education Department and education volunteers, including performance appraisals, staff recruitment, leadership training and daily operational support.
  • Oversee and teach SPOONS Cambodia’s Introduction to Hospitality course in rural areas throughout Cambodia.
  • Work in cooperation with the Social Department to ensure student welfare.
  • Assist the Career and Alumni Development Coordinator with internship and job placements.
  • Work in cooperation with SPOONS’s training café, Spoons Cambodia, to deliver hands-on practical training for the students.
  • Work closely with Ministry of Tourism to update about ASEAN Standard training.
  • Represent SPOONS Café and SPOONS Cambodia Organization at partner engagement events in Siem Reap and wider Cambodia, as needed. Strategic review of program operations to compare with industry standards.
  • Marketing, Promotion & Events and Networking:
  • Work with Social Media and Marketing Officer, in collaboration with the Executive Director and/or any external consultants, to design, plan and promote SPOONS’ events throughout the year.
  • Oversee marketing initiatives for SPOONS, in collaboration with the Fundraising and Communication Manager and the Executive Director, including social media, quarterly newsletters, website and community events.
  • Manage and reply to TripAdvisor reviews.
  • Meetings
  • Join weekly meetings with the management team.
  • Lead weekly follow up meeting with heads of department of Restaurant and Education
  • Weekly individual supervision meetings

Requirements

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree/ Qualification of ASEAN Tourism Standard
  • Experience:
  • Professional demeanor with utmost transparency and honesty
  • Very good level of English and Khmer
  • Training and mentoring experience preferred.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint)
  • Willing to travel to rural sites to teach short courses.
  • High standards of quality hygiene, grooming, and safety patient
  • Experience in dealing with young adults preferred.
  • Open minded and willing to learn from others and the environment around them.
  • Event Management is a plus.
  • Entrepreneurship experience is a plus
  • Mindful of cultural Positive energy and attitude
  • Motivated and hard working
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
